Self Referral

Most referrals to other specialists will require you seeing or speaking with a GP. However, there are a number of local services, listed below, that you are able to make self referrals to.

Let’s Talk IAPT

Let’s Talk IAPT is a free NHS, psychological therapy service offering support for a range of common mental health difficulties such as depression and anxiety, OCD, PTSD and more.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability. It can help with back pain, sudden injury and long-term medical conditions as well as childbirth and sporting injuries. You can self-refer yourself directly by completing the self referral form you do not need to go through your doctor.

Healthy Start

If you’re more than 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under 4, you may be entitled to get help to buy healthy food and milk. If you’re eligible, you’ll be sent a Healthy Start card with money on it that you can use in some UK shops. We’ll add your benefit onto this card every 4 weeks.

Podiatry

If you are over the age of 18 you can self refer to Podiatry for foot related problems. Please note: your referral will be rejected if it does not meet the Podiatry Service Criteria for treatment; if this is the case, you will be informed by post.

Open Door

Open Door is a voluntary sector counselling and psychotherapy service provided for young people aged 12-24. The service has two locations, the main office in Crouch End N8 and a second base opened in May 2013 in the 639 Enterprise Centre in Tottenham N17. Disabled access is provided at both sites. Young people from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds can refer themselves by phoning. Parents or other people working with or concerned about a young person can also refer.

Domestic Violence Support – IRIS

The staff in our practice are trained about domestic abuse and specialist workers are available to support you. Our practice is an ‘IRIS’ practice. You can talk to doctors, nurses and other staff working here if you are being hurt or controlled by your current or ex-partner, are afraid of someone at home or a member of your family. You can also contact NIA and ask to speak to the IRIS worker, ‘IRIS Advocate Educator’.

You can refer yourself directly to a psychological therapies service (IAPT) without seeing your GP. These services offer therapies, such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), for common problems including: stress, anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and phobias

NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme

The Healthier You: NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NHS DPP) identifies those at diabetes high risk and refers them onto a behaviour change programme.
